I have met John on several occasions and I must say I have never met anyone as nice as him. He truly takes the time to talk to you even though he just met you. I LOVE his album and hope to hear a lot more from him. It was hard for me to pick just one song as a favorite but if I need a quick John fix "DO You Want Me Now" works pretty good.

John is a wonderful musician and very kind person. I have been lucky enough to have met him in person and to have seen him perform various times this year. The most most recent being last night at the "No Nukes" concert. Chapin, Duke, and John were excellent as always. Beautiful music mixed with a lot of laughter and fun.

I became a fan of JJ after being a fan of Mary-Chapin Carpenter for years. I found his website and sent JJ an e-mail praising his album and expressing my admiration for his work with MCC. I mentioned that my husband and I had tickets to an MCC concert in Detroit. He actually stopped by our seats for a visit. What a nice man.

Greetings! On my way home from work today (Thursday), I was listening to WMNF, a great little community radio station here in Tampa, when they played a cool song I'd never heard before. The lyrics, vocals and guitar work blew me away. I thought for sure it was Bruce Cockburn, but the DJ said it was "Run Run Run" by John Jennings. It hooked me. Anyway, I thought I'd let you know I'm a new fan. BTW, you can find WMNF on the Web at http://wmnf.org. Honeyboy

I came to appreciate Mr. Jennings talent through the music of my favorite artist/performer Mary Chapin Carpenter. Though I imagine that is somewhat common for many of us. I have enjoyed listening to his work and contributions on all of her CDs and was very excited to learn he had finally released his own CD. It was played at the MCC concert this year when they played at the Chateu St Michelle winery here in Woodinville, WA. I knew I'd have to add it to my collection. I remember one cancert vividly MCC was playing at the Gorge Ampatheater and it was outstanding. I had front row center seats and was able to see everything. Truly outstanding. I remember after the show I just could not leave my seat. After the final song, and most people had left John came out and started to gather up some of the equipment. I'm sure we made eye contact and I wanted to say something about the show, but couldn't think of anything intelligent to say so I kept quite. I hope that his solo career is a great success and that people give him a listen. All my best and take care! Loren

Thought you might like to hear yet another
wonderful account of the Fabulous Mr. J. As I'm sure you are aware, east Nashville was
simply devastated by the tornado that ripped through the area on April 16th. Last Monday
morning, my partner (Mark) and I started to put together what we **thought** would be a
modest benefit concert to hopefully raise some cash for the victims of the tragedy in East
Nashville. Remembering that I had briefly met JJ online (in "Chapin Chat") about
a year-and-a-half ago, I sent John a quick note on Tuesday inviting him to play at our
benefit. I never quite expected the following: Shortly after I emailed John, I had to
leave my apartment to run a few errands. When I returned home I had a message from JJ on
my answering machine (that tape's a KEEPER!!). The message was essentially (I'm
paraphrasing) "I'd love to help... what can I do... I want to be there... give me
more details..." Before I could call him back (less than three hours had transpired
since I sent the initial email), John had already made his flight arrangements to get to
Nashville from DC to perform!! Upon talking with John, he told us that he was giving some
serious consideration to donating his beloved Martin Backpacker guitar to the cause, in
hopes that we could auction it off at the benefit!! JJ has used that guitar on Chapin
releases, as well as songs with Janis Ian, John Gorka and others!! Just imaging how much
that instrument must mean to John (the history alone is mind boggling!!), we asked him
several times throughout last week if he was sure he really wanted to part with it. He was
adamant that he wanted to raise as much cash as possible for the tornado victims. The
guitar arrived a few hours before John did on Sunday. We prominently displayed it in our
Silent Auction area, asking for a minimum bid of $500. John arrived later in the evening.
WHAT A SWEETHEART HE IS. Yesterday morning, one of our volunteer fund collectors called
me, recounting that he had stood outside the door of venue talking with JJ for 15 minutes
or so before John even came in. I don't think the gentleman realized who JJ was at
first... this morning's call was to inform us that he overwhelmed with John's warmth while
they talked. JJ's performance began with "Everybody Loves Me." I am quite
ashamed to admit that I was caught up in thanking other guests of the evening for their
support and performing other duties for the event. I didn't get to sit and enjoy the
performance as I had hoped to. I do remember hearing "Another Town" and several
other cuts from the CD. On a few occasions between his songs, John (jokingly?) asked for
$100 donations to "Drop Trou' " on stage!! John also accompanied Beth Nielsen
Chapman with her performance.... and was quite amazing considering they had had no prior
rehearsal!! Unfortunately, we were not able to sell John's guitar in our auction last
night. We were asking for minimum bids of $500, but we had no takers. John has asked that
we continue to accept bids on his prized Martin. Just as soon as I can get a decent photo
of it, we'll be posting it on the web site. If you wouldn't mind too much, Suzanne, we'd
really appreciate your help in letting others know that this historical instrument is on
the market. John mentioned that he is going to be getting in touch with some of the Chapin
sites and lists to get the word out. On the way home last night, Mark and I were
commenting on what a truly kind, generous and amazing man John Jennings is. The music
business is well known for its ability to "chew 'em up and spite 'em out." The
ability for a soul to remain un-jaded by the industry is quite a commentary on the man.
I'll never, EVER forget him and his spirit! For more info about JJ's guitar and the
auction, please go to www.musicdigest.com/auction.htm for details. Donna Loughlin IN

When I first heard JJ play, it was as a member of Jonathan Edwards'band (early 80's). I remember meeting JJ's mom (accidently bumped into her at a show at the Kennedy Center) and commenting on what a talented guy her son was. She thanked me and told me how I could contact John to find out where he else he was performing. Once I started going to gigs I was hooked. Way back then I wondered why John did not "go solo" because he was so talented (and I was just thinking of his guitar playing, never mind his singing, writing, etc.). Well after all these years, I am glad it has come to be for him. With his second CD due in just over a month, I am sure those days of playing backup are just vague memories for him. I for one will keep them in mind. If not for those days we would all be with one less source of beautiful music. Thank you John. I will always love you.

You have to admit that willie short is one of John's best tunes. I often wanted to see him live but never had the chance. Never mind! PS, if there are any genuine jj fans out who want to get in touch then why not give me an email?

Well what a well put together web-site! Everything one needs to know about the man himself. You may think that I'm a bit biased having known John's mum so well. As Bob McSporren has pointed out previously his mother is well known for her talents. She is renound for her great ability in the kitchen. Infact, I myself have tried her magnificient homemade baps.

Congratulations on the Wammie, John. A bunch of us sat at home and held our own award ceremony with longnecks and cheetohs. You did awesome. Nothing to write home about, but dee-licious.
Seriously, thanks for I Belong to You. Ken

Enjoy your lyrics as much as the guitar playing. As a beginning guitar player who has developed no ear for music, is there anywhere to buy your sheet music or obtain at least a basic chord or tabbed guide to the songs on "BUDDY"? I'll only sing them on the front porch!
Thanks gb
