John Jennings' first solo show in Nashville was at the Bluebird Cafe on November 20, 1997. John sang several new songs, yet to be recorded, and some songs from his album "Buddy". Adding to the enjoyment, John passed out Reese cups for the crowd; how did he know Reese cups are my favorite candy?? Another source of humor was John's use of his notebook to refer to as he played his new songs, to refresh his memory of his chords and lyrics! His performance was much enjoyed ! John led off with his video-hit, "Everybody Loves Me", played on his new guitar, a Gibson EC 10. He next sang a new song, "Circus Town", which was very blues-oriented, also played on the Gibson. Yet another new song, "Movie Land", about life in Hollywood, was added; he played this song on his Lowden SE-2 guitar. The following song was the exquisite "Willie Short", which he sung with much emotion, back on the Gibson guitar. The song, "I Belong to You", another new one, was played on the Gibson; this song was new and was the highlight for me. The last song John played, another highlight, was off of "Buddy", entitled "Night Will Fall", played on his Lowden guitar. All of John's performance was enjoyed, especially his guitar-playing and fine new songs he presented !
